    General Summary

    The NAEC Education Programs Manager will deliver a range of educational programs at the NAEC, including the Home Front Experience, A is for Aerospace, and Camp SOAR. Additionally, this position will assist in the development of future programs to further the NAEC mission (Honor the Past, Empower the Future.) A goal for this position will be to increase the reach of the NAEC through the development of interactive distance learning programs. The Education Programs Manager must be technology-proficient, creative, and able to work independently. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of aviation and World War II history. The Education Programs Manager will contribute to the strategic vision of both the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) and the Henry B. Tippie National Aviation Education Center (NAEC).

    This job is a civilian position and does not require military service (including commission and enlistment).

    Responsibilities

    • Performs and delivers assigned educational programs and services including historical experiences, school group tours, night/weekend programs, daytime programs, Scout merit badges, camps, and other education-related events
    • Serve as an expert for education program offerings
    • Deliver pre-visit instructions to schools, educators, and other program participants.
    • Conduct and review post-visit surveys of educational programs
    • Contribute to newsletters (print and electronic) for the general public and educators
    • Monitor education stations during aviation events
    • Attend volunteer training and orientations as needed
    • Develop educational activities, including digital programming, aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
    • Assist with financial reviews of education programs
    Requirements

    Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
    • Knowledge of standard-based instruction and assessments
    • Knowledge and demonstrated practice in creating hands-on, student-centered lessons with an emphasis on content-integration
    • Experience with distance learning to include virtual classroom sessions and webinars
    • Program implementation and program development experience
    • Strong creative and visionary abilities to add value to current or future educational programs
    • Demonstrated attention to detail, with a strong ability to keep accurate records and statistics
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, in writing and orally across various media
    • Solid computer-proficiency skills and abilities, including applications, databases, and Microsoft 365
    • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
    • Willingness to collaborate on projects and work with a team
    • Knowledge and experience in tool use, including handheld and power tools is a bonus
    • Knowledge of science of flight or aircraft maintenance or restoration is a bonus
    • Must be available to work a variable schedule to include evenings, weekends, overnights, and holidays.
    Education and Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Two years of experience working in educational settings, especially with K-12 school-aged children
    Physical Demands
    • Regularly performs tasks with hands and fingers for grasping and holding objects
    • Regularly performs office-related tasks at a desk or workstation while sitting, such as: keyboarding, phones, handwriting, filing, etc.
    • Sometimes pushes, pulls, lifts, and/or carries up to 50 pounds across a distance with or without supportive devices
    • Frequently stands, walks, bends, stoops, crouches, reaches, climbs, and kneels throughout the workday
    • Sometimes drives or travels by car/aircraft; occasionally travels out-of-area or overnight
