    $ $75000 / year

    Position Summary

    Reporting to the Logistics Manager and VP of Equipment & Fleet, the Logistics Analyst provides freight management and administrative support functions in a fast-paced environment due diligently - Planning/prioritizing/sourcing transportation of construction equipment and materials.


    Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties


    • Assess shipping requests of RailWorks staff and determine best transportation method for that shipment based on price, deadlines for delivery, other factors.
    • Enter shipment information in the TMS (Transportation Management System). This creates the contract between Railworks and Carrier.
    • Communicate with RailWorks staff and carriers regarding ETAs, reiterate details, explain exact equipment (trailer) types used, etc.
    • Generate Bills of Lading or other documents using TMS.
    • Generate Customs documents for equipment and materials traveling across the border.
    • Vet and maintain the carrier group
    • Estimate freight costs for future projects.
    • Analyze vendor purchase orders to determine if savings can be attained
    • Resolve customs related issues
    • Set up new carriers as new vendors in Sharepoint.
    • Monitor carrier invoices as necessary and follow up with carriers and Railworks staff when there are issues.
    • Update Logistics Savings Tracker to document all cost savings.
    • Analyze the freight logistics environment, fuel prices, etc. and report to superiors.
    • Assists Logistics manager with SWAT analysis for adding profit centers, acquisitions, etc.
    • Performs other unplanned duties/activities as assigned by the Logistics Manager and/or VP Equipment & Fleet.
    Required Skills and Qualifications


    • Completion of Grade 12 (High School Graduation).
    • A minimum of two (2) years of recent related experience including administrative support functions, logistics, inventory management, or a combination of other experience.
    • Experience in rail/road and construction industry or project based environment would be considered an asset.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
    • Hands on experience with JD Edwards - Procurement & Materials/Inventory Management Module would be an asset.
    • Ability to multi-task, organizes work, prioritizes and work to meet deadlines.
    • Strong attention to detail. Always come up with ideas for improvements.
    • Exceptional communication, interpersonal skills and negotiation skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively in a team environment.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills. Being professional and courteous with colleagues.
    • High performer with a positive attitude. Able to complete a work with little supervision.
    • Valid and clean driver's license.
    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions


    • Work will be 90% remote, from home.
    • Available 24/7 to respond to calls of a serious nature.
    • Periodic travel to work sites and Equipment & Fleet Team meetings may be required.
    • Railworks Safety Guidelines must be followed.
