- NYS Licensure
- Must have 40 points as designated on the Chess Team Point Value System
- Must have BLS for all units and some may require ACLS and/or PALS
- Age Specific care of patients
- Clinical competence in medication administration
- Demonstrates an aptitude and willingness to learn new responsibilities
- Excellent organization, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently, make decisions, meet deadlines, multi-task and solve problems
- Experience with CHS computer system
- Will be designated to train and work in various areas of facility providing safe & therapeutic patient care
- Must comply with all standards of behavior
- Requires excellent communication skills, pleasant demeanor and positive attitude
- Able to work well with others in a teamwork environment
- Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing plan considering the patient and family's individual, cultural, ethnic, and religious values and beliefs
- Evaluate nursing care on an ongoing basis and revising the plan of care as appropriate
- Utilize the nursing process as a basis for providing and evaluating nursing care applying knowledge of growth and development, pathophysiology, spiritual and cultural needs and family dynamics in delivery of nursing and inter-professional care
- Deliver care in a non-judgmental and nondiscriminatory manner that is sensitive to and values diversity
- Provide patient education for diagnostic procedures, medical conditions and treatment plans
- Provide nursing care utilizing defined competencies and skills to areas assigned.

Position Summary
The Chess Team registered Nurse will provide nursing care to a wide variety of patients within the Cayuga Health System.
During every shift, the Chess Registered Nurse will be member of a nursing team that provides direct nursing care to a specific unit within the system.
It is conceivable that a Chess Registered Nurse may start their shift in one unit and then based on a change in census and acuity be transferred or moved to a different unit to meet operational requirements.
While working within a nursing unit the Chess Registered Nurse acts as a patient advocate and facilitates communication between the patient, family, and other healthcare professionals.
This results I a holistic approach to planning, organizing, teaching and relationship development that best meets the needs of the patient.
Position Requirements
As a Chess nurse, you will do more than support to nursing units, you will serve as a collaborative consultant who shares lessons across teams and helps to advance the practice of nursing throughout our organization.
As a Chess Registered Nurse, you are expected to demonstrate motivation and creativity while striving to improve nursing at the unit, division, and organizational levels.
You will be a patient advocate, championing patient rights while exceeding their expectations.
