    The REAS program, formerly known as REP (Refugee Employment Services), is designed to assist refugees to attain self- sufficiency by providing culturally and linguistically sensitive employment and specialized services in an effort to assist them through the initial adjustment period following arrival into the United States. Services under this program are available to refugees who are aided through the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs), Medical Assistance, Cal-Fresh Assistance Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA), or General Relief (GR) programs. Services are also provided to refugees not aided through a public assistance program, as well as non-citizens who are victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, and other serious crimes. Refugees are eligible for REAS services for the first five years after entry into the United States.

    DESCRIPTION

    The REAS team is looking for a Program Assistant to join its Glendale team. The Program Assistant plays a crucial role in helping the Program Supervisor and Case Managers to keep appropriate records and create accurate case files in accordance with contractual obligations.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Keeps electronic tracking system of clients updated on a daily basis and print required reposts.
    • Assists the REAS Supervisor and the department director with preparation of monthly billing invoices and preparation of monitoring and auditing reports.
    • Assists REAS program staff by communicating with clients and coordinating workshops and seminars.
    • Answers telephone calls, schedules appointments, and assists in transferring files and keep all document confidential.
    • Assists with other clerical duties as needed including but not limited to filing, data entry and faxing.
    • Manages the unassigned pool of cases referred to REAS and is responsible for assigning REAS participants to service providers.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the following: stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; bend and reach for filing and other job-related functions; climb up and down stairs; bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull, push, and lift; reach both above and below shoulder height. Specific visual abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to visually inspect work. Manual dexterity to operate computer and other office equipment required. Travel to employer and client work sites is frequent. May be required to work some evenings and an occasional weekend day. Requires traveling to various business and other work sites as well. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made.

    Requirements:

    The successful applicant will possess exceptional interpersonal skills, be a good team player, and have demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities and assignments in a timely and efficient manner.

    Other requirements include:

    • Excellent organizational and self-management skills.
    • Must be able to operate standard office equipment and strong computer skills.
    • Must be detail oriented, responsible, must be able to fulfill daily tasks with minimal supervision.

    Education

    AA or BA or at least two years of office experience required.

    Language Preference

    Bilingual Russian, Farsi, Armenian, Spanish, or Arabic preferred.
