About the Role:
The Scrub Tech and Procedure Scheduler plays a critical dual role in supporting surgical teams and ensuring efficient scheduling of medical procedures within healthcare facilities across the United States. This position requires meticulous preparation and management of surgical instruments and environments to maintain sterile conditions and support surgeons during operations. Additionally, the role involves coordinating and scheduling patient procedures, collaborating with medical staff, patients, and administrative teams to optimize operating room utilization and patient flow. The successful candidate will contribute to enhancing patient care quality by ensuring timely and organized surgical services. This role demands a blend of clinical knowledge, organizational skills, and effective communication to support both surgical and administrative functions seamlessly.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential.
- Experience working in a surgical or clinical environment as a scrub tech or similar role.
- Proficiency in medical scheduling software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in a related healthcare field.
- Experience with procedure scheduling in a hospital or outpatient surgical center.
- Knowledge of insurance and billing processes related to surgical procedures.
- Additional certifications in healthcare administration or medical office management.
- Familiarity with multiple surgical specialties and their specific procedural requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical instruments and equipment prior to and during surgical procedures.
- Assist surgeons and surgical teams by anticipating needs and providing necessary instruments and supplies during operations.
- Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, ensuring accurate documentation and communication with patients, surgeons, and healthcare staff.
- Manage procedure calendars to optimize operating room availability and reduce scheduling conflicts or delays.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control protocols in all aspects of the role.

The required skills enable the candidate to efficiently prepare and manage surgical instruments, ensuring sterile conditions and smooth surgical operations. Scheduling skills are essential for coordinating multiple procedures, managing calendars, and communicating effectively with patients and medical staff to prevent conflicts and delays.
