Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:
At the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media, the goal is to equip students to spark meaningful dialogues locally, nationally, and globally while acknowledging the essential role of communication in nurturing democracy. Through collaborative efforts, the faculty, staff, and students promote an environment that is diverse, inclusive, and accessible to individuals from varied backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
The school provides undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, as well as manages several professional training and distance education schemes. With enrollment of approximately 1,000 undergraduates, 130 graduate students, and additional participants in professional and distance learning programs, the school's esteemed faculty members are recognized as thought leaders whose work resonates in the public domain.
Position Summary:
The Graphics and User Interface (UI) Fellow will assume a pivotal role in leading creative initiatives, designing graphics and UX for projects. Responsibilities entail direct interaction with partners and clients, participation in lab tours and events, support for media content creation, and maintenance of consistent company branding.
Task list:
- Design graphics and UX components for various Lab projects.
- Contribute to the development of VR projects.
- Engage with partners and clients on project discussions.
- Participate in Lab tours, public events, and client meetings.
- Support the Media Team in strategizing, producing, and utilizing photo and video materials.
- Uphold uniform branding across all company deliverables.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent, coupled with one year of relevant office experience, or an equivalent blend of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
Proficiency in web development, content creation, and a sharp eye for brand consistency are crucial attributes for success in this role.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
An undergraduate degree and research experience are preferred qualifications for this position. Ideal candidates will showcase a solid background in graphic design and UI development. Strong leadership in creative teams, exceptional communication skills, and organizational acumen are highly valued.
