Steel Planner / CNC Operator - Shipyard

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Steel Planner or CNC Operator to support steel fabrication operations within a shipyard manufacturing environment. This position requires hands-on experience in planning, programming, and/or operating automated steel CNC equipment. Due to project demands, this role requires an individual who can contribute immediately without additional training.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, program, and/or operate steel CNC equipment used in shipyard fabrication
  
  
• Develop and sequence machine plans for steel production activities
  
  
• Operate and support automated stiffener cutters and autonomous welding machines
  
  
• Interpret structural and production drawings to support CNC planning and execution
  
  
• Coordinate with production, engineering, and shop supervision to align machine schedules with project priorities
  
  
• Monitor production progress and resolve machine-related issues impacting schedule
  
  
• Optimize material usage and machine efficiency
  
  
• Support current projects and upcoming programs with immediate availability

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Steel Planner, CNC Operator, or similar role in a shipyard or heavy steel fabrication environment
  
  
• Demonstrated experience planning and/or programming steel CNC equipment
  
  
• Hands-on experience with automated stiffener cutting systems and autonomous or robotic welding machines
  
  
• Ability to read and interpret marine structural and production drawings
  
  
• Strong understanding of steel fabrication workflows and machine sequencing
  
  
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
