Overview
Are you an experienced Electric Power Generation (EPG) Field Service Technician looking for a rewarding career with a reputable company? Milton CAT is seeking a skilled technician for an in-field position within our Power Systems Division. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, recondition, overhaul, and maintain customer and company engines and power generation equipment. This is a field-based position that requires regular travel to customer locations to perform on-site diagnostics and repairs. You'll enjoy a dynamic work environment with opportunities for emergency calls and routine service beyond the normal work schedule.
Pay Rate: $ $43.48 an hour based on location, education and experience. This is a union position.

Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot engine and electrical systems, transfer switches, UPS, and switchgear systems.
- Remove, disassemble, assemble, and install components and parts.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Diagnose problems and causes of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.
- Determine reusability of parts in accordance with published Caterpillar reusability guidelines.
- Order replacement parts ensuring that parts ordered are correct and complete at the time of order.
- Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
- Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components.
- Prepare, inspect, and operate machines prior to delivery.
- Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies, and systems.
- Prepare inspection and appraisal reports.
- Prepare accurate and complete service reports timely.
- Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance.
- Flexible to work after hours when needed to meet customer needs.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 3 years of electrical power generation/electronics experience working on CAT diesel and natural gas engines and/or similar competitive equipment, including medium voltage equipment.
- Ability to diagnose and repair CAT power systems equipment and components in the field.
- Mastery level CAT Electrical Power products and in-depth skills of low and high voltage electrical, electronic systems and components, and CAT switchgear.
- Proficient in the use of a computer and related software (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving skills and be detailed oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong math skills.
- Able to lift 75 pounds; up to 45 pounds on an unassisted basis, repetitively.
- Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations.
- Ability to work in the field without supervision.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced service environment.
- Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks.
- Operate and maintain field service vehicle with GVW of less than 26,000 lbs.
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
- DOT certification required.
Preferred Skills and Competencies
- Associates degree in a related field.
- Experience with CAT Electronic Technician and SIS programs.
- CDL A or B is a plus.
