- Psychological Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' cognitive abilities, academic skills, social-emotional functioning, and behavioral needs.
- Administer and interpret standardized tests, observations, interviews, and other assessment tools to gather relevant data.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to develop appropriate interventions and educational plans based on assessment results.
- Individual and Group Counseling:
- Provide individual and group counseling services to students facing academic, social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
- Design and implement evidence-based interventions to address students' specific needs and promote positive mental health.
- Collaborate with teachers and parents to create supportive environments that enhance students' social-emotional well-being.
- Consultation and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop strategies for addressing students' academic and behavioral challenges.
- Provide consultation and support to teachers regarding classroom management, differentiated instruction, and behavior management techniques.
- Facilitate meetings and participate in multidisciplinary teams to discuss students' progress, interventions, and appropriate educational placements.
- Crisis Intervention and Prevention:
- Assist in crisis intervention by providing immediate support and counseling to students and staff during critical incidents.
- Develop and implement programs and initiatives to prevent and address bullying, violence, substance abuse, and other mental health concerns.
- Collaborate with community agencies and resources to support students and families during crisis situations.
- Data Analysis and Program Evaluation:
- Collect and analyze data to monitor students' progress, evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, and inform decision-making.
- Participate in the development and implementation of school-wide programs aimed at improving student achievement and well-being.
- Contribute to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of the school's special education and intervention programs.
- Master's or doctoral degree in School Psychology or a related field.
- Illinois certification or licensure as a School Psychologist.
- Knowledge of psychological and educational assessment tools, techniques, and practices.
- Familiarity with special education laws, regulations, and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, learning theories, and evidence-based interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficiency in using technology for data collection, analysis, and report writing.
- Experience in crisis intervention, counseling, and behavior management.
- Knowledge of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds in working with students and families.
