    The Community Health Center of Buffalo (CHCB) is seeking a part-time experienced Psychiatrist to join our diverse team. CHCB offers a generous benefits package for part-time staff that includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, 401k match, and eligibility for loan forgiveness.

    Primary Function:

    Directs Behavioral Health staff; provides assessments, evaluations, consultations, examinations, differential diagnosis, and treatment planning to a select group of patients.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Provides clinical direction to the clinical staff including Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, Case Managers, RNs, LPNs, and Medical Assistants.
    2. Adheres to all CHCB's clinical policies and procedures, including infection control principles and confidentiality.
    3. Assesses psycho-social health status through medical history and physical and psychiatric examinations.
    4. Orders and interprets laboratory tests.
    5. Tries cases, diagnoses, and treats illness and behavioral health conditions within the specialty area of practice.
    6. Functions as part of a multidisciplinary team which includes Primary Care Providers and Dental Providers. Collaborates, educates, and consults with other team members to develop and implement optimal care plans.
    7. Performs therapeutic and corrective measures including prescribing medication and provides preventive health maintenance and education.
    8. Teaches and counsels patients, families, and groups.
    9. Participates in quality improvement activities.
    10. Complies with all guidelines set by the collaborating physician in accordance with all regulatory agencies governing healthcare delivery.
    11. Performs special assignments as requested.
    12. Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department; maintains, distributes, analyzes, and protects information for required records, reports, and statistics as directed.
    13. Attends meetings as required.
    14. Performs other relevant duties as assigned or requested.

    The position requires periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping. Significant job stress may be associated with the position. Evening work may be required.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Possess a current, unrestricted NYS license to practice as a Psychiatrist. Possess and maintain a current DEA Registration number to prescribe controlled substances. Doctor of Medicine degree. National certification in specialty area. Computer literacy. Proficiency in MS Office.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Five (5) years experience in an outpatient setting. Experience with eClinical Works Electronic Medical Record System.
