    Job Description

    Soldiers rely on their weapons to dominate the battlefield. The Small Arms/Artillery Repairer is responsible for maintaining the electronic systems that keep these weapons operational for the Army National Guard.

    Skills to Learn

    • Electronic and mechanical principles and concepts
    • Understanding schematics, drawings, blueprints, and wiring diagrams
    • Operating electronic, electrical, and mechanical test equipment

    Desirable Skills

    • Preference for work requiring precision and attention to detail
    • Interest in handling weapons

    During training, you will acquire the expertise to pursue a civilian career as an electronic mechanic, avionics technician, or missile facilities repairer in companies that develop, manufacture, and test military weapons.

    Training for Small Arms/Artillery Repairers includes a 10-week Basic Training focusing on fundamental Soldiering skills, followed by 7 weeks of Advanced Individual Training involving both classroom and field exercises.

    Requirements
    • Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
    • Must be a junior in high school, or possess a high school diploma or GED certificate
