    Job Title: Program Manager - Financial Systems Implementation

    Duration: 6 months (W2 contract)
    Location: Portland, OR
    Hybrid/remote. Extension possible.
    Work Hours: 40/week.

    Key Skills: Project management at large entities, system implementation, accounting exposure/experience, asset accounting (nice-to-have), experience at public companies subject to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) (nice-to-have), experience in complex IT environments (nice-to-have).

    Tools/Technologies: Project management tools, accounting, and finance systems software.

    Job Description:
    As the Accounting Systems Program Manager, you will spearhead the design, implementation, and oversight of the Accounting and Finance Systems project. You will collaborate with department leads across various domains to ensure the seamless integration of new systems, impacting approximately 1,500 employees. This role requires adept project management skills, a keen understanding of financial systems, and the ability to navigate complex organizational landscapes.

    Responsibilities:
    FERC Order 898 Implementation:
    Drives the implementation of FERC Order 898, which involves overhauling the FERC uniform system of accounts with significant entity-wide impacts. Requires extensive project management and system implementation experience, along with basic technical accounting knowledge.
    Facilitate communication and coordination between project teams and the Steering Committee overseeing the Accounting and Finance Systems project. Organize committee meetings, manage project documentation, and provide decision support to ensure project success. Requires strong communication skills, project management experience, and the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels:
    • Lead the scope, design, and implementation of the Accounting and Finance Systems project.
    • Coordinating with departments leads to gathering requirements and aligning project objectives with organizational goals.
    • Utilize project management tools to track progress, manage timelines, and mitigate risks.
    • Conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and make strategic decisions.
    • Collaborate with IT, regulatory, and compliance groups to ensure system compliance and data security.
    • Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting as required to support project initiatives.
    • Serve as the primary liaison between project teams and the governance steerco, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, with a focus on system implementation.
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial systems.
    • Experience working in complex IT environments is preferred.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
    • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and drive initiatives to completion.
    • Certification in project management (PMP) and/or CPA is preferred.
    Team and Work Environment:
    Initiatives/Deliverables: Project management, tracking, reporting, and ad hoc analysis.
    Implementation of Accounting and Finance Systems impacting around 1,500 employees.

    Tools/Technologies: Utilizes project management tools.Proficient in accounting and finance systems software.

    A Day in the Life:
    Primarily engaged in project management activities.
    Conducts meetings across various departments.
    Tracks project status and addresses issues.
    Reports to governance steering company.

    Interaction Level:
    Engages in a highly collaborative environment.
    Expected to independently plan, align, and execute with management guidance.

    Top Priority:
    Focuses on understanding client systems.
    Ensures project planning, scheduling, and scoping are appropriate.

    Biggest Challenge: Balancing project management amidst competing priorities in a complex environment.

    Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years) in project management, business, system implementation, or a related field.
