Responsibilities

The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) is responsible for supporting various critical Department of Defense (DoD) information systems. Working in alignment with established security protocols, the ISSO collaborates closely with the Information System Security Manager to ensure smooth system operations.

Support the ISSM in their responsibilities, stepping in for them when needed
Ensure adherence to security policies and procedures for system operation and maintenance
Participate in relevant technical and security training
Maintain necessary IA certifications
Monitor system compliance with security protocols
Contribute to change management processes
Manage system security-related documentation
Conduct audits and continuous monitoring activities
Share audit findings and execute incident responses
Participate in status meetings and mentor junior ISSOs
Identify and address system architecture vulnerabilities using industry-standard tools

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

BA degree with 2 years of experience or 4 years in a related industry
Knowledge of common auditing techniques and security tools
Active Top Secret/SCI clearance or recent clearance within 24 months
DOD 8140 IAM I certification or equivalent within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with vulnerability scans and RMF
Familiarity with auditing security functions of various systems
Proficiency in scripting and querying for security auditing
Active DOD 8140 IAM I certification
BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university

Security Requirement: Current Top Secret security clearance is mandatory.
