    $18.08 per hour

    Role:


    Occasional part-time (up to 28 hours per week) Mental Health Assistants will support consumers with substance use needs on their recovery journeys.

    Many consumers will also have co-occurring mental health needs.

    Mental health assistants work in innovative afterhours Substance Abuse Engagement Center to provide education, promote recovery and access community resources.

    In a comfortable home-like setting, mental health assistants help people to consider options for their personal recovery planning.

    Mental health assistants also lead groups and work side by side with people to obtain housing, employment, medical care, recovery supports, transportation, recreation, financial benefits and other available entitlements.

    Mental health assistants must be able to work second or third shifts on weekdays and any shift on weekends. Mental Health Assistants work under the supervision of the Mental Health Program Director and Program Coordinator.

    All work hours are outside typical business hours. Second shift (5 pm to 1 am) and third shift (1 am - 9 am) on weekdays and weekends. Additional daytime shift on weekends (9 am - 5 pm). All staff will rotate schedules and have weekend hours. Mental Health Assistants must have strong engagement skills and nonjudgmental approach.


    Job Specific Requirements:
    High school diploma required. A valid MI driver's license is required. Some knowledge or experience in treating adults with substance use needs and/or serious mental health needs is desirable.

    This can be an excellent position for people with recovery experience or students in college for human services work.
