Job DescriptionPosition SummaryThis position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a track mounted Sandvik Pantera dPi 1500 drill across the Greensboro District. The Drill operator will perform maintenance on all relevant equipment, to include the drill and pumps, maintain a safe working area, troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic issues, and assist in loading and stemming of blast patterns.

Responsibilities

• Operates a drill and associated equipment within the company guidelines and safety standards
• Completes day to day activities of drill operations including daily/monthly machine inspections, greasing, drill logs, and replacing bits as needed
• Performs maintenance on drill and pump system
• Aides in loading and stemming of blast patterns
• Participates in safety inspections, plant safety program, and follows company and MSHA safety rules and regulations
• Operates other equipment such as loaders and haul trucks in a safe manner as needed
• Aides in the training of co-workers as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

• Must be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated
• Will take an active role in the plant safety initiatives
• Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
• Willing to cross-train in different areas of production

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position
• Experience in hydraulic and electrical systems preferred
• Experience with Kelly Bar driven drills preferred
• Experience with electric powered drill preferred
• ATF Clearance a plus

• Proficient in all aspects of drilling
• Able to work cooperatively with others toward a shared goal, contribute actively to the team efforts, and possess a positive attitude in working with others as a team
• Possess effective coordination and communication skills
• Possess strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge and skills
• Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to perform duties with minimal supervision
• Able to work varying shifts as needed, outdoors, in varying weather conditions
• Able to adhere to MSHA guidelines and plant safety rules and regulations
• Able to ensure a safe work environment by prioritizing safety, then quality, followed by production
