    Description

    Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, a 550-bed, tertiary care and level 1 trauma center in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an experienced board-certified physician to serve as the Internal Medicine Residency Director. The IM residency is well-established, fully-accredited without any citations, and is supported by strong Cardiology, Pulmonary and Critical Care, and Geriatric fellowships. The residency hosts 48 categorical residents and boasts strong board pass rates, scholarly activity, an established X+Y curriculum and Primary Care Track, and highly engaged faculty. The ideal candidate would be an academically-minded physician with expertise in medical education and administration of a large and dynamic group of learners and faculty members. The Program Director will lead initiatives vital to the evolution of medical education, specific to our diverse community, and further develop a culture based upon the Ascension Core Values of Service of the Poor, Reverence, Integrity, Wisdom, Creativity, and Dedication.

    Responsibilities:

    • The residency program director is responsible for program administration and operations, and for residents' recruitment and selection; education in the context of patient care; supervision; assessment, promotion, and disciplinary actions; scholarly activity; and for the establishment of an effective learning climate at all teaching sites in accordance with the requirements set forth by the ACGME Internal Medicine Review Committee.
    • The position includes leadership, administrative, teaching and patient care responsibilities.
    • The Program Director will lead a team of Associate Program Directors, three PGY3 Chief Residents, and two Program Administrators, who support the residency education mission with special attention to learning milestones, patient care, patient safety and quality, and the community.
    • The IM Program Director serves as the ​director of the non-ACGME accredited Clinician Educator Fellowship
    • The Program Director collaborates with the DIO and GME community within the institution and serves as a role model for colleagues and learners
