Job description
We have a need in the DMV area area looking for attorneys in the Commercial/Business litigation space. Strong litigation experience is required for this role, Must be barred in DC to be considered & Must have a portable book of 300K+Job is Remote but candidates need to be accessible to DC to meet clients in the DC office.
In this Role, the attorney will litigate around the following:
The Commercial Litigator – International Trade, Sanctions, and National Security will represent corporate and institutional clients in complex cross‑border disputes and regulatory enforcement matters involving export and financial controls, economic sanctions, customs and import regulation, national security, and government contracts.
The attorney will handle litigation and investigations, provide compliance counseling, and advise on risk in international business operations and supply chains.
Key ResponsibilitiesRepresent clients in federal court, arbitral forums, and administrative tribunals in matters involving export controls, economic sanctions, customs and import regulation, government contracts, and related commercial disputes.
Defend and prosecute enforcement actions and investigations before agencies such as the U.S.Department of Commerce (including BIS), Department of the Treasury (including OFAC), Department of State (including DDTC), Department of Homeland Security/CBP, and other national security and trade regulators.
Advise on the application and interpretation of U.S.and international export control and sanctions regimes (including EAR, ITAR, OFAC programs) in connection with transactions, supply chains, financing, and technology transfer.
Counsel clients on customs and import issues, including tariff classification, valuation, country‑of‑origin and marking, preferential duty programs, penalties, prior disclosures, and duty mitigation strategies.
Provide legal advice on national security and industrial security issues, including CFIUS reviews, foreign ownership, control or influence (FOCI), security clearances, and handling of classified or controlled technical information.
Advise on government contracts matters, including bid protests, claims, contract disputes, investigations, suspension/debarment risk, and compliance with FAR/DFARS and agency‑specific requirements.
Conduct internal investigations relating to potential violations of export controls, sanctions, customs, anti‑boycott, anti‑corruption, and national security laws, and prepare voluntary self‑disclosures and responses to government inquiries.
