    Description

    UTHealth Houston School of Public Health seeks applicants for an Open Rank, tenure-track position with expertise in environmental or public health engineering, with a focus on water treatment technologies, water reuse applications, and/or sustainable water management. The selected candidate will be part of the new Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences and be based at the El Paso location .


    Specific areas of research experience may include:

    · Water quality and waterborne disease

    · Water system infrastructure and extreme weather

    · Premise plumbing pathogens

    · Engineered water cycle

    · Direct/indirect potable water reuse

    · Desalination

    · Aquifer storage & recovery

    · Wastewater epidemiology

    Position Key Accountabilities:

    Successful candidates are expected to contribute to the school's teaching, research, and service missions. We encourage applications from diverse areas of environmental and occupational health science.

    • Provide educational leadership, including classroom teaching and fieldwork mentoring to graduate students.
    • Develop and implement research related to water sustainability and public health by engaging with community organizations, including utilities.
    • Work collaboratively with UTHealth Houston School of Public Health colleagues to submit research proposals for external funding.
    • Effectively engage with industrial partners and/or non-academics.

    Qualifications:

    PhD or DrPH in public health/environmental/civil engineering, water epidemiology, environmental resource management, or a related field. Successful applicants will have demonstrated potential as independent researchers with experience developing and implementing research studies, conducting data analyses, presenting research findings, and writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications. Prior experience with pilot plants would be useful but not required.
