    ABOUT THE ROLEThe Mechanical Engineer, New Graduate will provide plant wide engineering and planning support for plant equipment/systems.

    They will be responsible for creating, planning and executing projects of various types as well as answering Engineering or technical questions, providing/finding documentation or technical details for Plant staff as needed.

    The Mechanical Engineer, New Graduate will also be a part of the Holcim US Build4Growth Program.

    This is an extensive, 16-month cement manufacturing learning and development program designed to provide new graduate engineers with foundational knowledge and experience on the main operational areas of our cement plants.

    This program is built on a blended learning approach including online learning, face-to-face sessions, on-the-job assignments, and projects.

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with engineering firms, equipment suppliers and plant staff to provide Technical Details and Answers for Structural and Mechanical Systems where and when questions arise.

    Establish and Create Bills of Materials (BOMs) for new equipment Installations. Along with updating and maintaining existing BOMs.

    Analysis of repetitive problems through root cause analysis, Pareto analysis, statistical review, FMEA and similar techniques to establish and execute projects or control methods to resolve the reoccurring issues.

    Support and guide sustainable improvements in Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of major equipment. Responsible for the facilitation of continuous improvement processes around equipment availability and reliability. Inspect and evaluate Structural Integrity of various styles of structure utilizing Calculations, Firms, or other means as necessary. Create, plan, manage, and execute various styles of projects with respect to safety, environmental, budget, MSHA and Company policies. During Project actualization; instruct and lead Contractors or Team to execute project plans from contractor onboarding, through system commissioning. Document all steps of projects, including EQ info/manuals, BOMs, quotes, drawings, and information for each project. (Projects can be New Installation, altering Systems or large Maintenance/Repair jobs to be completed by Third Party Services (TPS). Occasional structural or mechanical design to be verified and stamped by PE.

    Reverse Engineering (RE) of various broken, unavailable or long lead time Parts and create Fabrication drawings to be made in house or fabrication company.

    (occasionally RE of new parts upon arrival when applicable) Research solutions to technical problems as they arise.

    Provide technical support, training and development for maintenance functions with specific focus on entrenching reliability concepts within the maintenance group.


    WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOREducation:
    Bachelor's degree or 3 years of equivalent experience


    Field of Study Preferred:
    Mechanical Engineering


    Required Work Experience:
    0-3 years in heavy industrial mechanical maintenance, mechanical project work, plant construction or supervision.


    Required Computer and Software Skills:
    Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

    Travel Requirements: 5%

    Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
