    Role Description

    This is a full-time on-site role for a Formulation and Product Development Chemist at SunFly Brands, Inc. located in Fluke Hall at the University of WA campus in Seattle, WA. As a Product Development Chemist, you will have the exciting opportunity to contribute to the research, development, and formulation of our UV-sensitive, color-changing ink technology as well as matching our inks to suitable stamping systems. Your day-to-day tasks will include laboratory work, coatings formulation, analytical spectroscopy, and research and development (R&D) activities in the field of polymer science.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
    • 4+ years of lab experience (inclusive of both corporate and academic work)
    • Experience in coatings formulation, research and development (R&D) and spectroscopy desirable
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Attention to detail and ability to work with precision
    • Excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and willing to relocate to Seattle (relocation costs not covered).

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain a startup mentality and sense of urgency
    • Achieve agreed upon technical milestones in a timely and professional manner
    • Proactively anticipate technical roadblocks and surface plans to address them
    • Participate in weekly Technical Team meetings and present progress reports.
    • Interface with SunFly staff, consultants and strategic partners on technical matters
    • Document detailed lab and research notes on shared drive
    • Report on NSF grant billables including materials, equipment, usage fees, etc.
    • Lab management – ordering supplies, cleaning glassware, chemical waste disposal, maintaining chemical inventory, etc.

    Compensation:

    • $62,400/year starting June 2024
    • Generous stock option package
    • Two weeks paid vacation per year
