    Job Title

    Direct Care Specialist - Children's Programs

    Job Summary

    The Direct Care Specialist is responsible for implementing the facility's structured direct care for children's programs and providing a nurturing environment that promotes consistent structure, guidance, and nurturance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Participate in the Interdisciplinary Team to meet the physical, emotional, and social needs of children, as outlined in each child's plan of service.
    • Implement Trauma-Informed Care principles and normalcy practices to create a growth-producing environment that stimulates self-confidence, trust, and felt safety.
    • Remain attentive to the physical, emotional, and academic growth of children under supervision.
    • Utilize a trauma-informed approach to improve children's self-worth, problem-solving skills, daily living skills, and self-regulation.
    • Foster an environment that encourages children to practice resolving problems and living in a community setting.

    Requirements

    • High School degree or equivalent; some college or college degree preferred.
    • Age 21 or older to meet vehicle insurance requirements.
    • Minimum one year of experience working with children in a therapeutic/residential setting or related experience.
    • Valid Texas driver's license with insurance and provide DPS proof of driving record acceptable to agency insurers for the past three years.
    • Pass pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens when directed.
    • Provide TB test within the past 12 months showing employee is free of contagious TB.
    • Submit to a criminal background check, FBI background check, and Texas HHS background check as required by regulatory agencies.
    • Possess knowledge of child development, trauma, youth homelessness, abuse, and neglect issues related to at-risk children.
    • Effective communication and organizational skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
    • CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Behavior Intervention certification must be current or obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained as required by regulatory standards.

    Schedule

    Part-time schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, and 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM.
