    Reporting to the Quality Control Manager or NDT Level III,the NDT Level II inspector performs visual, dye-penetrant and magna particle non-destructive examinations.

    The NDT Level II plays a key role in ensuring the reliability and integrity of materials and fabricated components through the application of various NDT methods.

    Perform structural steel and pipe welding inspections (VT, PT, MT) in accordance with AWS, ASME and MIL standards;


    • Review the performance of inspections completed by subconsultants/others when needed
    • Interpret construction drawings and specifications on construction projects. Communicate with customers, contractors, supervisors, and other inspectors regarding specifications and qualification test results and site progress. Maintain field notes and related documentation.
    • Gather data and measurements to be used in the completion of checklists and quality assurance of various construction activities.
    • Recommend approval of the work inspected (in compliance with the Contract Plans and Specifications).
    • Communicating with Project Managers and Foreman to determine the specific requirements of a given work order, including the scope of work, deliverables, schedule, and budget for a particular assignment;
    • Communicate with the Project Manager, fabrication shops, field operations, and other third parties to resolve schedule issues;
    • Ensure that the services provided are performed in accordance with Company procedures, the project requirements, and contracts with customers;
    • Prepare daily reports including description of work activities, labor and equipment identification and quantity and inspection reports in an expeditious and thorough manner, complying with all applicable deadlines.
    • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with ability to communicate technical issues to the Project Manager, foremen, and the fabrication team.
    • EDUCATION and CERTIFICATION
    • 2 year post high school or trade school or similar experience
    • NDT Level 2 certifications VT; , Level 2 PT, and MT a plus

    CITIZENSHIP AND SECURITY CLEARANCE:

    • Must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance issued by the U.Demonstrated experience performing visual inspection and nondestructive testing of welds
    • Proficiency in the use of weld inspection tools including; weld gauges, NDT equipment, and micrometers.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to multi-task and properly execute multiple simultaneous assignments without sacrificing efficiency or quality of the work;
    • Expertise in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required; knowledge of Adobe Acrobat preferred. Proficient use of modern communication and computer equipment including cell phones, laptop computers and tablets
    • Structural Shipyard Experience
    • The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.
    • Primarily indoors during the day and occasionally at night.
    • Frequently working near moving and/or vibrating equipment.
    • Occasional exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
