    About the role

    The Operations Manager is responsible for directing overall daily plant operations. Priorities include personnel safety, quality assurance, and testing and control of incoming materials. Maintain efficient operations while achieving daily Key Performance Indicators (KPI). This position is responsible for data entry into NetSuite and recording daily activities. Additionally, this role will coach, mentor, and groom direct reports in daily operations, safety, and Covanta's code of ethics.


    Job Duties:

    Be a Champion of Safety:

    • Always take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others.
    • Build and champion a strong safety culture to ensure the plant maintains compliance with Covanta's safety, operations, and environmental policies and procedures.
    • Manage the health and safety of employees to continuously improve Covanta's health & safety performance.

    Organize & Plan Production:

    • Plan the daily operation scheduling of plant production to ensure optimal utilization of plant and equipment, personnel and inventory requirements, and work procedures.
    • Direct day-to-day operations of others while adhering to a monthly budget and managing employee overtime hours.
    • Assist and organize the work of employees in the daily inspection and maintenance of the plant to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruptions.
    • Perform, delegate, and supervise preventive maintenance and housekeeping of the plant and equipment daily.
    • Enter accurate and daily data into NetSuite for waste tracking, regulatory, and billing review.
    Quality Control & Assurance


    • Responsible for receiving, tracking, and material compliance.
    • Conduct laboratory analytical testing for product quality assurance/control and routine testing.
    • Review and analyze inbound/new steams to facility operating permits.
    • Verify and report suspected malfunctions and variances as directed and take corrective actions.
    Regulatory Compliance


    • Ensure daily compliance to all facility operating permits (Solid Waste and/or county/federal wastewater acceptance and discharge regulations).

    People Excellence:

    • Provide solid and proven leadership, training, team building, and supervision to all employees at the plant in order to support the operational function of the business.
    • Coach, train, develop and mentor others.

    Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Possess a valid Driver's License
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in supervising production employees preferably in environmental services or similar industry.
    • Previous experience in Waste Water Treatment (WWT), material handling or similar operations.
    • Must be able to provide strong leadership and mentorship to employees, both direct and indirect reports, to motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships.
    • Must be an excellent motivator and team builder. Must be able to form strong social relationships and effectively communicate with both internal and external audiences.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
    • Must exercise good judgment and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong organizational, attention to detail, and prioritization skills.
    • Ability to analyze information and suggest improvements.
    • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
    The expected hourly pay rate for this position is $100,000 - $115,000.

    This is a good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final salary figure will consider various factors, including experience, ability, and location.
