Job Description and Duties

In order to be eligible for this position, you must either be transfer eligible or take and pass the following exam: Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist)

Working Conditions

This position involves performing field work, which may include hiking or climbing on moderate slopes, unpaved surfaces, undeveloped roads, docks, levees, and other structures near waterways. It also requires working long hours in various weather conditions, driving vehicles on public roads or in remote areas, and traveling throughout California for field work or meetings, sometimes requiring overnight stays. Additionally, being part of a 24-hour oil and pollution spill response organization may involve participation in training, drills, and incidents across California, with short notice deployments and extended periods of up to 7 days. Some travel within California via private or public transportation may be required, including multiple days of overnight stays based on departmental needs.
