Job Title: Infant Toddler Caregiver
Location/Work Status: Oahu, Hawaii (various locations: Kalihi, Pearl City, Waianae, Waialua)
Job Type: Regular Full Time, Non-Exempt
Compensation: $18.03 / per hour with competitive benefits package

Summary of Program and Position:
We believe that every child deserves bright and healthy futures. Early education plays a critical role during the important developmental period, especially among disadvantaged children. Investing in early education will have a tremendous impact on life outcomes and provide thriving futures for Hawaii's young minds.
Federally funded initiatives provide early childhood education and related comprehensive services for low-income parents and children, and children with special needs. Early Head Start (EHS) provides services in centers and in homes to prenatal parents and parents with infants and toddlers. Head Start (HS) serves children ages three through five and their parents to provide a head start for school success.
The Infant Toddler Caregiver will implement an individualized and comprehensive early childhood education program for prenatal women, children ages birth to 3 years and their families in a center-based model.
Essential Duties:
- Provides individualized comprehensive early childhood education services to Early Head Start families and acts as a family educator and advocate; promotes best practice and acts as a resource person.
- Coordinates and completes weekly lesson plans that are centered on the development of the child through individualized small and large group activities. Emphasis is placed on preparing children for preschool and engaging families throughout the process.
- Coordinate with parents to ensure that prenatal, well-child exams, immunizations, health screenings, and nutrition assessments are complete and necessary follow up occurs.
- Complete Individualized Family Partnership Agreement, Individualized Learning Plans, developmental screenings, and all other required assessments with families in accordance with program policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate written/electronic records including health information, ongoing assessments, family contact documentation, screening schedule, observations, and other required forms in a timely manner.
- Completes required documents and submits weekly and monthly paperwork associated with assigned classroom and children. Paperwork consists of meal counts, attendance records, health and safety checklists, food temperature logs, feeding progression logs, and other required forms.
- Use individualized curricula to meet the identified needs of each child and family and ensures linkages and/or referrals are made to community resources. Implements special education services, for children with special needs and their families, through the development and implementation of an Individualized Family Support Plan in collaboration with the child's Part C provider (e.g., Early Intervention, Easter Seals, etc

Education/Training:
1. Must be at least 18 years old.
2. High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
3. Required combination of Coursework/credits, training, and work experience.
Must meet one of the following combinations (Option A or B):
Option A:
• Minimum of twelve (12) credits in early childhood education or child development, and
• Thirty (30) hours of infant/toddler development from an accredited teacher training program/institute, and
• Twelve (12) months full time experience working with children under 36 months in a licensed group care setting, required
Option B:
• Minimum of 30 hours of coursework in infant/toddler development from an accredited teacher training program/institute, and
• Twenty-four (24) months full time experience working with children under 36 months in a licensed group care setting, required
Other:
- Possesses and maintains a valid driver's license and daily access to an automobile.
- Possesses and maintains proof of no-fault insurance.
- Can obtain an acceptable criminal background check upon hire, one year later, and annually thereafter.
- Can obtain an acceptable CWS background check. upon hire, one year later, and annually thereafter.
- Can obtain an acceptable National Sex Offender Registry Check upon hire, one year later, and annually thereafter.
- Successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and TB test upon hire and as requested
