Overview
The Food Runner plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless dining experience for members and guests by efficiently delivering food orders from the kitchen to the dining areas. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to exceptional member service. The kitchen is located on the second floor, while the dining areas are on the first floor, requiring food runners to safely and quickly transport food between levels using stairs.
Duties
- Promptly and accurately deliver food orders from the second-floor kitchen to first-floor dining areas, ensuring presentation and temperature standards are maintained.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and servers to coordinate timing and order accuracy.
- Assist servers with table maintenance, including clearing dishes, resetting tables, and refilling beverages.
- Ensure all food items are delivered with appropriate utensils, condiments, and garnishes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of service stations, tray stands, and food pick-up areas.
- Respond to member and guest requests with professionalism and a positive attitude.
- Support setup and breakdown of dining areas, including linen placement, silverware polishing, and restocking service items.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Maintain knowledge of menu items, daily specials, and club events to support member satisfaction.
Skills
- Previous experience in a high-end restaurant or private club setting preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Must be comfortable walking up and down stairs while carrying food trays or using a service elevator as needed.
- High attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and food safety.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to lift trays and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment:
- Work involves frequent movement between the second-floor kitchen and first-floor restaurant.
- Standing, walking, and stair use for extended periods.
- Indoors in dining areas and kitchen; occasional outdoor service during events.
- Fast-paced and member-facing environment.
