Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance Technician
Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt 40 hrs per week/ OT as needed
Reporting to: Maintenance Manager
Regular Work Schedule: The work week is Monday through Sunday and the regular workdays/hours are as
agreed/assigned by the direct supervisor based on business/department needs, schedule determined by
Manager.
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for support and action in association with
maintenance activities, ensuring that production equipment and other preventative maintenance plans
are properly scheduled and communicated to Supervisors/Managers and other coworkers, and timelines
are met as directed by Manager. They are also responsible for setting up, installing, repairing,
and maintaining machinery and other equipment/facility assets, to support the Maintenance Manager
in successfully ensuring that all equipment and other facility maintenance needs are maintained and
functioning safely.
To be successful, they must demonstrate safe work habits, be detail oriented, have excellent time
management skills, be able to problem solve/troubleshoot independently, and have exceptional
attendance. The Maintenance Technician must be able to perform duties in a fast-paced environment
with a sense of urgency while maintaining excellent internal customer service. They must be able to
follow and create both written and verbal instructions, workflows, processes, and procedures, and
will work well alone or as part of a team.
Essential Duties:
1. Demonstrate constant awareness and concern for the safety of self and others
o Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly workstation and production floor
o Safely and efficiently operate forklift and overhead crane
o Inspect equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment
o Adhere to company and OSHA safety practices and Programs at all times
2. Perform preventative / predictive maintenance systems to improve equipment uptime
3. Assist with utilization of data to establish long term and short-term equipment overhauls and
upgrades
4. Assist with order inventory and maintain adequate spare parts within budgetary guidelines
5. Coordinate outside contracting with in house projects as necessary
6. Trouble-shoot and problem-solve to minimize equipment downtime
7. Plan, organize and execute multiple tasks, in a fast-paced environment
8. Establish and maintain acceptable cleanliness and organizational standards in the
maintenance department; experience implementing 5S concepts a plus
9. Inventory and ensure that DIS has the necessary tools on hand to complete any maintenance task
that may arise throughout the facility
10. Take appropriate steps to minimize downtime and support on schedule project delivery
11. Identify, design, and recommend projects to management, and implement plans for upcoming
maintenance
12. All other duties as assigned, including assignments in other departments when there is a
business need, as assigned by supervisor
Required Skills:
• 5 yrs Direct intermediate maintenance role performing preventative maintenance and machine
repairs in a factory setting i.e; air compressors, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, HVAC, and
operation specific machinery.
• 5 yrs Intermediate knowledge of machine rebuilding techniques.
• 5 yrs Intermediate fabrication skills; ability to build small frames, guards, and machine
mounts.
• 5 yrs Intermediate welding skills; knowledge and capabilities with arc and mig welding.
Knowledge and use of cutting torch.
• 3 yrs Intermediate electrician skills; ability to run small conduit to NEC specifications and
basic wiring knowledge. NEC conformance is the responsibility of the Maintenance Manager and all
electrical work will be under direction.
• 3 yrs Basic building maintenance knowledge; bathroom repairs, lighting repairs, and drop ceiling
maintenance.
• Strong ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, staff, and contractors
or vendors.
• Must be self-led and also be comfortable working as part of a team.
• Detail oriented with demonstrated ability to effectively manage complexity and work within a
fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Excellent organizational and mechanical skills. Be able to interpret blueprints.
Physical Requirements:
• Employees will work in environments that may include exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes,
dust, noise, lead, and dryness/humidity and are regularly exposed to welding fumes, electrical
hazards, and UV light
• Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that may
entail frequent climbing, bending, and stooping
• May be required to walk for long periods of time over a large area
• Frequently required to bend or twist the body
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds at a time
• Use hands to handle, control, manipulate, or feel objects, tools, or controls
• Must be able to climb up to and down from heights
• Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception,
and ability to adjust focus to read instructions, operate machines, inspect parts produced, and be
aware of surroundings at all times
• Prolonged periods wearing personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, work gloves,
hearing protection, steel-toe boots, UV protection for arms, hands, face, and eyes
• Occasionally wear personal protective equipment, such as respirators, face masks, other
breathing protection, or breathing equipment
• Regularly exposed to contaminants and uncomfortable noise levels within the environment
• Regularly exposed to hazardous situations and equipment, such as high-speed or high-heat
machines, lathes, overhead cranes, and various lift machines
• Regularly working around forklift traffic and around heavy loads over 1 ton
