Job description
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Line Cook to join our culinary team at the Sheraton Suites Columbus/Worthington. If you take pride in consistency, quality, and teamwork in a fast-paced kitchen environment, we want to meet you.
Position Summary
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to brand standards and recipes while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen. This role plays a key part in delivering exceptional food quality and supporting overall guest satisfaction.
What You'll Do
Food Preparation & Execution
- Prepare and cook menu items following standardized recipes and plating guidelines
- Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner during service periods
- Maintain consistency, portion control, and presentation standards
- Assist with breakfast, lunch, dinner, banquets, or special events as needed
Kitchen Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation throughout shift
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards (ServSafe guidelines preferred)
- Properly label, date, and store food items
- Assist with inventory control and minimizing food waste
Team Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house team members
- Support fellow associates during high-volume service
- Uphold a respectful and professional work environment
What We're Looking For
- 1+ year of culinary or restaurant kitchen experience preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
- Team-focused attitude and strong work ethic
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Work is performed indoors in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and move throughout the kitchen and restaurant.
- Frequent use of kitchen tools and equipment, including ovens, stovetops, and knives.
- Must be able to lift and move items up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Requires bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
