The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health for Penn State College of Medicine and the Penn State Health Milton S.
Hershey Medical Center is seeking an Adult Psychiatrist for a combined inpatient and outpatient position as an attending psychiatrist and Penn State faculty at the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute (PPI) in Harrisburg, PA.
64 of PPI's 89 inpatient beds are devoted to adult psychiatric care. Many patients have comorbidity with medical illness and/or substance abuse. PPI unit staff includes nurses, social workers, therapists, art therapists, music therapists, and recreational therapists.Psychiatric medical residents, medical students, physician assistant students, and other learners rotate on the unit as part of their education.
The candidate would also provide general outpatient psychiatric care to adults, with an option to dedicate a portion of time to any of the subspecialty areas in the clinic.
PPI outpatient services include general outpatient care delivered to all ages, as well as multiple subspecialty care programs.PPI subspecialty areas include a first episode psychosis clinic, a dialectical behavioral therapy program, a Hispanic clinic, services for patients with intellectual disabilities, services for LGBTQI+ patients, geriatric assessments and treatment, Clozaril and long acting injectables, and services for patients with co-morbid drug/alcohol use.

At the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute (PPI), located in uptown Harrisburg, PA, the department provides staffing for a full spectrum of general and specialty psychiatric care for children and adults, including outpatient and partial hospitalization programs, 89 inpatient beds, ECT and neuromodulation services, and an Advancement in Recovery (AIR) addiction treatment program.
Services through Penn State Health Milton S.Hershey Medical Center, in Hershey PA include programs in general and specialty adult and child psychiatry and psychology, adult partial hospitalization, sleep medicine and behavioral sleep medicine, eating disorders, psychiatry and addiction consultation/liaison, and integrated care with primary care and medical/surgical specialties.
