    SUMMARY OF THE ROLE


    Reporting to the Vice President, Tax, the Senior Indirect Taxes Manager will be an integral member of the Finance team.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the indirect tax function including Texas property, sales, and use taxes.

    The role will require leveraging technical tax knowledge to analyze, recommend and make decisions, and communicate across the organization.


    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work collaboratively with internal colleagues including Accounting, Finance, Legal, Engineering, and Corporate Affairs functions
    • Manage and direct outside advisors and consultants engaged on special projects and initiatives
    • Technical research and documentation related to ad valorem, sales, and use taxes
    • Transaction planning for indirect taxes
    • Forecasting and projections of indirect taxes
    • Manage audits, appeals, and assessments
    Sales and Use Taxes


    • Review phased Vertex implementation and validate system settings and tax matrix
    • Manage direct pay permits
    • Oversee monthly use tax accruals and associated SOX compliance
    • Manage Texas use tax filings and payments
    • Optimize applicability of exemptions
    • Provide contract review and taxability analysis for internal customers
    Property Taxes


    • Manage outsourced property tax renditions and associated payments
    • Manage Texas pollution control exemption compliance
    • Oversee Texas Chapter 312 abatement agreement including reporting and compliance

    REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum/preferred experience required for the position:

    • 8-10 years of total experience; Big 4 experience preferred (not required)
    • Experience with Vertex or other sales/use tax determination software
    • Familiarity with accounting for indirect taxes in SAP or similar ERP
    • Experience with sales, use, and property taxes for a large construction project
    Minimum/preferred knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:


    • Solid verbal and written communication skills to interact at all levels
    • Strong technology skills, including experience with transaction tax systems

    Required/preferred education:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or other Business-related field
    • CPA, CMI, or relevant professional designation preferred (not required)
    • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
