    Job Summary:
    Epirus designs and manufactures novel RF systems for a variety of platforms in a rapid development environment.

    The Systems Engineer – Software role is a multidisciplinary role, with significant breadth (interacting with multiple engineering disciplines) and depth (from customer needs to unit-level specifications).

    The Systems Engineer – Software role works particularly closely with the Production Software team, facilitating Concept of Operations (CONOPS) definition, requirements definition and management at system, sub-system, and unit levels, integration, verification, and validation (IV&V) planning and execution, change management, interface definition, etc., for both Epirus-designed and vendor-purchased parts.

    As a fast-moving technology company, Systems Engineering at Epirus focuses on supporting the other engineering teams and facilitating rapid development, rather than focusing on overly bureaucratic processes.

    Responsibilities

    Work with the Production Software team to define and capture Software requirements and verification plans
    Develop models for key performance parameters that can be used to derive requirements and perform trade studies/impact analyses for SW subsystems
    Define and iterate on product concept of operations (CONOPS)
    Facilitate multi-discipline coordination across teams, including interface documentation for SW subsystems and dependencies across subsystems
    Quick-turn change impact analysis to facilitate agile hardware/software/firmware development
    Facilitate IV&V planning and preparation, including resource planning for SW subsystems, developing Acceptance and Qualification Test procedures hand-in-hand with Production SW Engineers, and helping prepare Special Test Equipment
    Develop system level test plans, procedures, and scripts/software tools to exercise and measure SW functionality of the system
    Troubleshoot system-level SW issues/failures and provide recommended paths forward

    Basic Qualifications

    BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar field
    5- 8 years industry experience, depending on degree, preferably with experience spanning the entire product lifecycle (Concept to Delivery)
    Experience with Python development or other similar object-oriented languages
    Experience working with Git/GitHub, or similar version control systems
    Experience working with Systems Engineering tools such as for Requirements Management, Product Lifecycle Management, Model-based Systems Engineering, etc.
    Ability to identify gaps, prioritize in the context of the project/program, and lead an effort involving multiple engineers from other teams to resolve issues

    Preferred Skills And Experience

    Experience with software control of hardware / physical systems
    Experience working with both front-end and back-end software development
    Experience with laboratory measurement equipment, particularly for RF and Power measurements
    Experience with data analysis
    Good written and oral communication skills; not afraid to speak up, either to ask for help or disagree on a technical point that warrants more discussion
    Collaborative; capable of working across all levels of the organization
    Eager to learn and to help others on the team
    Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
    Focused, with perspective on what matters most, rapidly delivering customer value

    As required by the Equal Pay Transparency Act, Epirus provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired.

    Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.

    For the state of California only, the range of starting pay for this role is:

    $127,300—$187,000 USD
