    Description

    Summary of duties: Responsible for analyzing patient accounts, assisting with questions, and payments, and following up on outstanding patient balances.

    Duties & Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform job-related functions.

    • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing any questions or concerns regarding their accounts. Make the patient the priority.
    • Contact patients via phone, email, or mail to collect payment for services rendered.
    • Review and analyze patient accounts receivable to identify outstanding balances.
    • Resolve any billing or payment discrepancies with patients, insurance companies, or other third-party payers.
    • Educate patients on insurance coverage and payment options, ensuring they understand their financial responsibilities.
    • Collaborate with Insurance and Legal accounts receivable teams.
    • Monitor and follow up on outstanding patient balances, applying appropriate collection strategies as needed.
    • Update patient records and billing systems with accurate and up-to-date information.

    Education: High School Diploma or GED.

    Skills/Experience:

    • Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.\
    • Knowledge of computer programs.
    • Knowledge of business office procedures.
    • Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment.
    • Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system·
    • Skill in answering a telephone pleasantly and helpfully.
    • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
    • Must be well-organized and detail-oriented.

    Environmental/Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Occasional overtime may be required and/or hours may be shortened as business needs dictate.

    Physical Demands: Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Manual dexterity is needed for using a calculator and computer keyboard.
