    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Minimum Educational Requirements:
    • Shall have 30 semester hours of graduate credit, inclusive of the Master's Degree
    • Shall have not less than 20 semester hours of graduate credit administration, curriculum, supervision, and related fields.
    • Shall hold for a valid permanent, continuing, or provisional teacher's certificate in secondary education for the State of Michigan.
    • Shall hold an Administrative Certification by the State of Michigan.
    2. Minimum General Requirements:
    • Shall have a minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience in education.
    • Ability to speak and write effectively.
    • Knowledge of the growth and maturation patterns of the secondary students.
    • Ability to provide leadership in educational planning.
    • Ability to organize and administer personnel, programs and facility use.
    • Ability to promote effective relationships with students, staff and community.
    • Ability to function effectively in a management team and work with the Strategic Planning Process.
    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
    • It is the purpose of this position to meet the educational needs of students and community as stated in District Board of Education policies, administrative regulations and established curriculum.
    DIMENSIONS OF THE POSITION:
    • Responsibilities of this position cover the leadership for curriculum and program development, the organization and supervision of all certified and non-certified personnel assigned to the principal, and the operation of the facility in which the secondary school program is housed.
    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
    A. Essential Duties
    • Report directly to the High School Principal for Instruction concerning the organization, operation and supervision of instruction, staff and program.
    • Utilize and coordinate the professional staff and services of supporting department and/or community agencies.
    • Supervise and evaluate certified and non-certified staff and evaluate efforts of staff toward achieving district school improvement and strategic goals and objectives.
    • Assist district-level staff in the recruitment and selection of Personnel.
    • Maintain records necessary for completing district and state reports and for reporting pupil attendance and academic progress.
    • Oversee and support staff in their efforts to maintain a safe, orderly and effective learning environment.
    • Monitor and evaluate professional development of the staff to promote skills needed to carry-out an effective secondary school program that reflects the strategic plan.
    • Seek and organize active parent involvement and support of the school program.
    • Cooperate with other administrative staff both at the building and district levels in meeting goals and objectives of the building and district.
    • Develop staff and student handbooks to clarify expectations and operational procedures.
    • Establish and maintain the means by which the Deputy Superintendent will be continuously and completely informed as to areas of the secondary school operation which are of concern to central office administration and/or the Board of Education.
    • Develop and evaluate the curriculum programs and materials for students.
    • Prepare and administer budgets and related business procedures.

    • Develop a community relations program which keeps the parents and community informed and gives the community an opportunity to advise the school regarding its program and operation.
    • Administer facilities for effective, efficient utilization and maintenance.
    • Interpret and implement the collective bargaining contracts of various employee associations.
    • Assist in the development of school related extra-curricular activities for students.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent for Instruction and the Superintendent of Schools.
    • Experience with technology to enhance instruction.
