    The Office of Campaign and Political Finance seeks a Chief Financial Officer/Business Manager. Working under the direction of the Director, the CFO/Business Manager is responsible for facilitating the day-to-day operations of the office, financial management, oversight of agency's budget, and human resources compliance. OCPF is an independent state agency with 17 employees and a $2 million annual budget. For a full description, visit

    Duties include but are not limited to preparing and administering budget submissions; coordinating procurement activities; acting as Internal Control Officer to ensure operations are within guidelines; processing payroll; maintaining personnel files; assisting on staffing plans including posting, arranging interviews, onboarding new staff, processing outgoing staff, ensuring that all positions are funded; works with OSD on all surplus property issues including compiling annual inventory of all agency assets; manages all phases related to collection of fines and penalties from political committees and candidates; serves as liaison with staff at the Office of the State Comptroller, OSD, A&F for budgetary issues, and DCAMM or other landlord for building issues; manages records retention process; serves as backup for various positions during staff absences; and performs other duties as assigned by the director.

    Required Skills and Abilities

    Management experience in the public sector and knowledge of Commonwealth's budgetary systems, fiscal policies and procedures.

    Ability to understand and apply statutes and regulations governing the operation of an independent agency.

    Ability to work within a team environment, as well as independently, and with a wide variety of stakeholders. Willingness to work in a collaborative setting to achieve agency objectives and provide regulatory guidance. Demonstrates initiative, creativity and ability to share new ideas to improve processes and procedure.

    Aptitude for databases and reporting and tracking tools; strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy; strong analytical and problem- solving skills; excellent communication skills both written and verbal; ability to interpret and respond to questions in accordance with laws, regulations, and policies; ability to proactively set priorities and multi-task without compromising attention to detail; ability to preserve confidential information required; and exercise a high level of discretion and sensitivity in performing the work

    Proficient in database, accounting computer application systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; working knowledge in MMARS and HR/CMS as those programs are modified.

    Qualifications

    BA/BS or professional experience in Business Administration/Finance or related field, and at least 5 to 7 years of full-time or, equivalent part-time professional experience in a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience.

    Compensation

    This is a full-time, exempt position with an excellent state employee benefits package. This is an at-will position not covered by a collective bargaining agreement or civil service regulations. Starting salary will range from $103,000 to $115,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Currently a hybrid position based in Boston. Posting will remain open until position filled.
