    Description

    We are looking to add an EHS Engineer - Member of Technical Staff (MTS) to our Environmental Health & Safety team. The ideal candidate has a passion for supporting the development and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, risk mitigation, and sustainability in support of QuantumScape's mission. This is a full-time on-site position.

    In this role, you will:

    • Conduct routine compliance inspections, job hazard assessments, risks assessment, document corrective actions, and manage closure of assigned actions
    • Open to becoming the certified on-site trainer for Class I, II, & III Forklift operations (will train)
    • Lead various safety programs, potentially including but not limited to: confined space, contractor safety, crane & hoist safety, electrical safety, fall protection, powered industrial trucks, warehouse safety
    • Align with assigned lab and non-lab departments as their EHS Partner, who acts as first point-of-contact for EHS questions and concerns
    • Complete office, industrial, and laboratory ergonomics evaluations
    • Present EHS training courses and safety topics
    • Perform weekly construction walks with on-site superintendent and host monthly contractor safety meetings
    • Coordinate with vendors to perform on-site projects
    • Participate in regulatory inspections by Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) such as City of San Jose, Santa Clara County, CA Dept. Of Public Health, BAAQMD, etc.
    • Assist in root-cause investigation and preparation of corrective actions reports in response to workplace-related injuries and illnesses
    • Participate in safety reviews for design and installation of new process equipment and process flow layouts
    • Participate in Emergency Response Team and Safety Committee activities

    Minimum Requirements:

    • B.S. degree in physical sciences (biochemistry, chemistry, physics), engineering (chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical), or closely related field
    • 2-3 years of work experience in the EHS field.

    This position is required to perform these above essential duties and responsibilities onsite at our QS offices.

    Highly Desirable:

    • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) Certification
    • Class I, II, & III Forklift Certifications
    • M.S. degree in physical sciences (biochemistry, chemistry, physics), engineering (chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical), or closely related field
    • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing operations environment

    Physical requirements:

    • Frequently reach above shoulder heights and below the waist
    • May be required to use hand or power tools
    • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stoop, kneel, crawl, push and extend arms
    • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time

    Compensation & Benefits:

    Salary range for this role will likely be between $116,200 to $151,000 with potentially some flexibility based on candidate's experience level. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus based on company goals and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan.
