    Description

    Position Overview:

    As a Thoracic Surgeon in the United States Air Force, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the cardiovascular and pulmonary health of our airmen and their families.

    Your expertise in surgical procedures of the thorax will be pivotal in handling routine, elective, and emergency surgeries.

    This position will involve both operative and non-operative management, collaborative interdisciplinary care, education, and potentially research, depending on the specific role and location.


    Key Responsibilities:
    Perform thoracic surgeries including but not limited to procedures on lungs, esophagus, and other organs in the chest.
    Engage in pre-operative and post-operative care of thoracic surgery patients.
    Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including anesthesiologists, radiologists, nurses, and other specialists.
    Provide consultation on thoracic surgical issues for medical professionals and patients.
    Engage in continuous education and training activities to uphold the highest standards of medical and surgical knowledge.
    Potentially engage in educational roles, training medical staff, residents, and medical students.
    Comply with all military health and safety guidelines, policies, and procedures.


    Qualifications:
    Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
    Successful completion of a residency program in General Surgery and a fellowship in Thoracic Surgery.
    Board Certified/Board Eligible in Thoracic Surgery.
    Unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the United States.
    Must meet the professional, physical, and ethical standards for USAF Medical Corps Officers.
