Job DescriptionDaybreak is looking for a Housing Inspections Specialist to assist in our mission of providing Miami Valley homeless and vulnerable youth with services that promote safety, stability, and well-being. This position will play a role in achieving our vision of a promising future for all youth.

Daybreak offers hybrid (1 day a week) and flexible work schedules. This position will work 11:00am - 7pm with the ability to flex the schedule.
About Us: Daybreak was established in 1975 in Dayton, Ohio as an emergency shelter for runaway and homeless youth. Today, Daybreak operates the Miami Valley's only 24-hour crisis hotline and emergency youth shelter and has grown to include outreach, prevention, transitional housing, life-skills education, and other follow-up services for runaway, throwaway, and homeless youth.
Position Responsibilities: Responsible for completing and tracking weekly apartment inspections in all Housing Program units weekly to ensure the condition of the unit remains in a safe and livable condition; reporting any client related concerns to the Housing team and any maintenance concerns to the landlord. Responsible for the completing and tracking initial/annual HUD Housing Inspections, Habitability Inspections, and Environmental Inspections. Collaborates with the Housing and Facility Team in the client's moving process by completing Move-In/Move-Out inspections and reporting any concerns to the respective teams. Meets monthly productivity as outlined in 'Daybreak's Supplemental Duties for 'Housing Inspection Specialist' document (attached), according to standards set by Senior Management by providing CPST, TBS, PSR, CPST individual and group services dependent upon education and licensure, as appropriate. Ensuring clinical services paperwork is completed within 72 hours per agency standards and requirements. Utilizes the therapeutic milieu and Trauma Informed Care model in managing youth behaviors, problem, and conflict resolution, deescalates crisis situations, coordinating with Housing and clinical team, as needed. Links, promotes, and engage youth to enhance well-being, social connectivity, and community connections by providing education and guidance on housekeeping, good neighbors skills, and landlords relationships. Collaborate with the Housing team to provide services that ensure clients self-sufficiency and home management stemming from observations made during apartment inspection. Meets weekly and/or as assigned for supervision and participate in team meetings as requested.
Position Requirements: HS/GED required, AA or BA in Human Services or related field preferred. Experience with target population, preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office and desktop/laptop computer operation, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and being a good problem-solver, a must.
