    Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day ShiftAt Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, we specialize in neurological treatment and hold the longest running comprehensive stroke certification in the region - we provide full cycle, cutting edge stroke treatment including neurosurgical procedures, and neurointerventional radiology.

    We are a tertiary referral center for stroke and neurological care, meaning other hospitals trust us with their most complex patients.

    Neurological medical/surgical floor, 5 North, is located on the fifth floor of the hospital.

    As the only Comprehensive Stroke Center in Covenant Health, we take great pride in providing exceptional care and timely treatment for our patients.5 North is a 35-bed unit.

    We specialize and treat a wide range of neurological conditionals such as, but not limited to hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes, aneurysms, subdural hematomas, post neurosurgical and interventional radiology cases.

    Our team is comprised of RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and PCAs, utilizing each to the top of their scope.
    We follow a 12- hour shift, weekends/holidays on a six-week schedule.

    Team members utilize a self-scheduling software, and employee requests are then used during the scheduling process to balance and coordinate with the departments needs.

    Is accountable for the delivery of high quality nursing care and for the administrative management of the nursing unit on a 24-hour basis.

    Fulfills all duties and responsibilities associated with the Nurse Manager position.

    Lacey Spoon |||| ResponsibilitiesSelects, trains, orients, develop and evaluate performance of the department staff. Ensures staffing mix and allocation in accordance with departmental guidelines.
    Develops departmental budgets. Administers operations in accordance with budgeted parameters.
    Maintains operational reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
    Coordinates and reports outcome of nursing activities performed on behalf of the patient.

    Establishes and maintains communication between the nursing unit, medical staff and ancillary departments for the purposes of problem solving and quality improvement.

    Utilizes appropriate lines of communication within the facility.
    Ensures establishment and implementation of unit goals and objectives are in alignment with the facility and system.
    Promotes a safe environment that allows for the delivery of high quality patient care utilizing evidenced based practices.
    Protects patient confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications.
    Supervises, institutes, and evaluates nursing interventions and documentation.

    Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.

    Works collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure patient care is timely, efficient, and effective.
    Facilitates professional development of staff with accountability for staff retention.
    Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
    Performs other duties as assigned.

    QualificationsGraduate of accredited nursing program required; possession of a bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field preferred (required within 3 years in position or effective date of job description).Three (3) years of recent clinical experience.

    Two (2) years of leadership/managerial experience preferred.


    Licensure Requirement:
    Must have and maintain Tennessee State registered nurse license.
