Description

CDW Technologies LLC seeks a Senior Software Engineer – DevOps to perform the following duties:

Provide advanced automation and scripting development, application administration, and/or deployment solutions to clients by:

Creating technical and conceptual specifications in support of the clients' business needs and functional specifications;

Developing custom scripts, code and interfaces to other application systems as defined by the technical specifications;

Conducting unit and functional testing.

Develop software solutions to support DevOps tooling, including implementation of bug fixes, feature enhancements, and content updates.

Oversee significant pieces of development within the development lifecycle, applying in-depth knowledge of software design features.

Manage and appropriately escalate delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes associated with development initiatives.

Display technical leadership and oversight of implementation and deployment planning, system integration, ongoing change control processes, quality assurance, delivery, operations, and sustainability of technical solutions.

Exercise delegated authority for planning, directing, coordinating, administering, and executing both routine and complex technical elements of technical operations.

Advocate for security and performance standards.

Research, evangelize, and implement best practices and tools for DevOps, continuous integration, build automation, deployment automation, and configuration management using DevOps tooling.

Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines.

Identify trending gaps or issues in day-to-day performance of applications, scripts, and components, including by active monitoring, alert management, reporting, and process reviews.

Maintain issue tracking and documentation systems and provide reporting that ensures proper tracking and visibility of issues and projects.

Identify technical and process improvement opportunities and advocate for implementation.

Work closely with development and QA teams in release planning, preparation, validation, post-release monitoring, and ongoing monitoring.

Maintain accurate program estimates, timelines, project plans, and status reports; maintain accountability to work estimates and project financials.

Provide process improvement recommendations based on best practices and industry standards; stay current with many best-of-breed technologies.

Lead code or other technical reviews and present feedback to technical team.

Debug large components with limited assistance and assist other engineers with debugging.

Build focused relationships with clients to identify business challenges, build trust, and secure future business.

Directly interact with clients, sales team, managers, and other technical team members to identify, develop, and obtain complete information for solutions, and scope statement and level of effort for proposal/SOW development.

Document completed technical work and maintain technical specifications throughout a project.

Contribute and develop best practices, strategies, methodologies, and documentation/templates suitable for reuse by other Consultants and Analysts.

Review and understand all assigned Statement of Work (SOW) obligations prior to services delivery.

Assist with Digital and/or Data practice presales activities.

Utilize a variety of other technologies and tools including zLinux Server, WebSphere, Ansible, Terraform, GitLab, Jenkins, VMWare, Openstack, Vagrant, Docker, Kubernetes, Ant, Bamboo, Maven, Jenkins, Artifactory, Nexus, IAM solutions, hybrid and cloud/IaasS environments (AWS, Azure, and GCP) and Scrum/Agile practices.

Minimum requirements include a Master's degree in computer science, information technology or related field plus 3 years DevOps experience including:

zLinux Server setup, configuration and administrative support;

Work with Ansible, Terraform, GitLab, Jenkins, Vagrant, Docker, Kubernetes, hybrid and cloud/IaasS environments (AWS and/or Azure), and virtualization software (VMWare and/or Openstack);

Work with build, deploy and continuous integration automation solutions (Bamboo, Jenkins, and Maven);

Work with Binary repository solutions (Artifactory and/or Nexus);

Identity and Access Management solutions integration into infrastructure and Web applications;

Software solutions development to support DevOps tooling (bug fixes, feature enhancements, content updates);

Full systems lifecycle participation with solution design, development, implementation, and product support using Scrum and other Agile practices; and

Work with customers to clarify needs and requirements and to build a solution, working on technical team from design through delivery.

Alternatively, CDW will accept a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or related field plus 5 years progressive, post-baccalaureate DevOps experience including:
