Description

As a Border Patrol Agent (BPA) with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, you will be part of a dynamic team that strives to protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nation's economic prosperity.

You will have the opportunity to work in a variety of roles including detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws, inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations, preventing and apprehending aliens and smugglers at or near the borders using surveillance equipment such as infrared scopes during night operations.

Duties:

• Detecting individuals attempting to cross into the United States illegally
• Maintaining surveillance on international border areas
• Inspecting vehicles crossing into/from Mexico/Canada for contraband

BPA Grade Levels:

The position is available at two grade levels: GL-9/GS-11.
• GL-9/GS-11 BPA Requirements:

1. Qualifying experience equivalent to GS-7 must include law enforcement-related assignments where duties included performing physical searches; working closely with other agencies/law enforcement personnel;
2. Fully meeting requirements under threat determination requires completing form 362I regarding exposure history throughout life while getting vaccinated against Covid -19 prior starting service before applying job when coming back after an absence from either medical reasons leave without pay extended period more than six months however due regular performance evaluations usually granting full status possible even though reassignment possibly takes place minimum fourteen days following receiving verbal advice stating evaluation wasn't performed adequately since management could address concerns differently thereby reaching promotion possibility sooner normally second time reviewed attains adequate progress often third).
