    Summary

    The City of Charleston is looking for a Day Camp Unit Leader for the Summer Season at the West Ashley Bee's Landing Recreation Center. In this role, you will conduct summer programming for children and assist in camp administration.

    Examples of Duties
    • Support the work of the leadership of a Recreation Department Facility Manager
    • Assist in running an all-day summer camp program at a City recreation center.
    • Work with an assigned group of 10-12 campers; ages may range from 6 to 12.
    • Adhere to a provided schedule of activities. Camper activities include: swimming, arts and crafts, games, sports, and educational enrichment.
    • Monitor the safety and wellbeing of participants.
    • Assist with sign-in and sign-out procedures for campers.
    • Support supervision of camp employees and counselors in training.
    • Communicate with parents and guardians.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Basic Qualifications
    • Available to work Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm or 10:00 am - 6:00 pm for the summer camp season.
    • Able to stand and walk outdoors in a variety of weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
    • Valid state-issued driver's license
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working with children.
    • CPR and First Aid certification.
