    Quality Assurance Laboratory Planner & Supervisor Summary:

    Plan, schedule, review and approve the testing and data generated according to the order requirements. Supervise the Laboratory Technicians executing the above tests and day-to-day activities such as shift hand-offs, assigning work priorities, enforcement of plant rules, policies and labor agreements, incident and accident investigation and arranging for report-off and vacation coverage. Communicate with Manufacturing, logistics and Q&T personnel concerning material test status and planning issues.

    Quality Assurance Laboratory Planner & Supervisor Essential Functions:

    Planning the Quality test requirements:

    Review customer specifications and ensure that tech edit; basis specs and order specs reflect the required testing.

    Ensure that test requirements can be executed with Toronto Lab or approved test houses.

    Plan "non-standard" tests in support of metallurgist investigations or MPE requirements.

    Scheduling and Executing tests:

    Receive material from Toronto operations or other sites.

    Schedule test and prioritize according to SAP/Synchrono production schedules or plant priorities (red tags).

    Monitor test progress through the laboratory.

    Communicate with metallurgists and operations on test status, via Lab Status Report.

    Send test material to, and receive test data from, other TIMET locations and external test houses.

    Reviewing and Approving test data:

    Ensure all scheduled tests are completed.

    Ensure all results meet order/specification requirements.

    Communicate lab failures and retest needs to metallurgists and/or operations (Lab Status Report)

    Approve and release all conforming tests in LIMS/STAR

    Supervising lab technicians and work prioritization

    Lead, supervise, evaluate and coach personnel to maximize efficiency and the quality of the work performed.

    Effectively communicate company and department goals, achievements, problems, solutions, practices, changes and enforce all company policies, rules and regulations.

    Maintain a world-class safe, clean and organized environment.

    Resolve lab technician questions regarding scheduled tests or samples.

    Ensure samples/tests are processed in a timely manner to support operations schedule.

    Oversee adequate shift coverage, manning levels, overtime and vacation scheduling.

    Communicate safety requirements and ensure safe working practices by lab technicians.

    Quality Assurance Laboratory Planner & Supervisor Additional Responsibilities

    Knowledge, implementation and communication of Customer Quality requirements within the Laboratory.

    Ensure laboratory consumables are in inventory for usage during production.

    Qualifications

    Competencies

    Strong organizational and communication skills, Multi-tasking ability, ability to manage high workloads.

    Education and Experience

    Associate or Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy; Materials Engineering or other Engineering/Science discipline preferred or related experience. Two or more years experience in a mechanical test laboratory environment preferred.

    Special Skills

    Proficiency in SAP, LIMS/STAR, MS office applications.

    Interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational skills, proficient with multi-tasking priorities.

    Demonstrate Supervisory capability.

    Knowledge of Laboratory testing methods.

    Familiarity with customer and national standards with respect to test requirements and reporting of data.

    Relocation

    Relocation is authorized for this position.
