Job Summary
To provide audiologic evaluations and treatment, under the direction of physician/provider, to patients of all ages. To coordinate services with other health professionals. To develop new areas of evaluation and/or treatment. To measure for and issue hearing aids.
Qualifications
Education:
M.S. Degree in Audiology. Eligible and/or have received Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology.
Training:
One to three months on-the-job training.
Experience:
Two years of experience as a Staff Audiologist.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to perform and interpret audiologic tests (which minimally includes pure tone air, bone and speech screening, impedance testing, tympanometry, videonystagmography (VNG), hearing aid evaluations, hearing aid testing and repair) under the direction of a physician/provider.
To expand the scope of services for audiology. To communicate with appropriate health personnel for quality patient care. To conform to the legal requirements regulating audiology services. Participates in the hospital organization on committees as needed. Meets competencies established for this position.Performance Requirements
Performing audiologic testing in a safe manner as ordered by physician/provider. Developing new programs and services offered by Audiology. Maintaining a high degree of accuracy in performance of tasks and tests. Having ultimate responsibility for all decisions made in the rendering of services. Communicating with patient and/or family members, physicians, and other appropriate health care professionals. Communicating with the director and manager.
Physical Demands:
Vision - To have adequate acuity to read tests and instruments, including depth perception and color discrimination.
Standing - Infrequently.
Sitting - Frequently.
Carrying - Infrequently, up to 35 pounds.
Reaching - From floor to overhead.
Stooping/Crouching - Infrequently.
Handling - Frequently.
Special Demands:
Ability to interact professionally with various people. Ability to be creative in the development of new services.
