Classroom Assistant

Location: Myrtle Point, OR. Program: South Coast Head Start.

Reports to: Teacher/Advocate

Key Responsibilities:

1. Promote children's growth and development by providing responsive care and effective teaching practices.
2. Maintain a safe and healthy learning environment by cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting classrooms, equipment and materials.
3. Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervisor.
4. Utilize The Creative Curriculum to provide quality, developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor learning experiences.
5. Use positive guidance strategies to support social-emotional and behavioral health.
6. Perform teacher job duties in the temporary absence of the Teacher Assistant.

Bus Monitor (if applicable): Complete required bus monitor training, receive direction from the Bus Driver and ride bus to and from class and on field trips.

Requirements:

• Infant/Toddler: Infant/Toddler Childhood Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent, Oregon Registry Step 7 or higher.
• Preschool: Preschool Childhood Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent, Oregon Registry Step 7 or higher.

Work Environment:

• Geographic Area: Coos, Curry and Coastal Douglas Counties.
• Regular activities outside in a non-climate controlled environment, kneeling, bending, stooping and sitting on the floor.
• Some travel may be required.
