    Job Description


    The Chief, Children's Physician Group (CPG) is the lead physician executive working closely with the COO CPG, Pediatrician-in-Chief (PIC), and Surgeon-In-Chief (SIC) to build best-in-class practice operations and support for physician practice that attracts and engages physicians.

    The position takes the lead on engaging with physicians to support the implementation of practice standards in each division, understanding nuances and how to successfully achieve our ultimate goal of best practice.

    This position serves as the physician advisor for all aspects of access, to ensure patients and referring physicians have easy and seamless access to Children's expert care.

    The position will work with Division Chiefs to provide performance reporting and coaching on how to continuously improve.

    Key Responsibilities


    • Primary dyad partner to the COO, CPG
    • Lead Physician Executive for Children's Physician Group (CPG), works closely with Pediatrician in Chief and Surgeon in Chief to ensure leading physician practice
    • Lead physician working closely with the COO, CPG to support the development and execution of physician practice standards
    • In conjunction with COO, CPG, develops goals and objectives for physician practice and access (e.g., KPIs)
    • Partner with Division Chiefs to educate them and their physicians on KPIs. Meet routinely to monitor and ensure plans are in place to achieve them
    • Serves as the physician advisor for all aspects of access, to ensure patients and referring physician have easy and seamless access to Children's expert care
    • In partnership with COO, CPG, lead the design and implementation of the ambulatory strategy, focusing on how to optimally deliver services across metro Atlanta and the state
    • Accountable for ambulatory space allocation in partnership with physicians
    • Partner with every Division Chief to provide performance reporting and coaching on how to continuously improve
    • Lead initiatives that help standardize clinical and operational policies, procedures, and workflows
    • Partner with PIC, SIC, Division Chiefs, and dyad partners on business and growth plans, new FTE, recruitment
    • Develop clinical FTE physician standards. Partner with Division Chiefs to determine clinical FTE allocation for each Division
    • Approve all physician recruitment packages and FTE allocations (in addition to PIC/ SIC)
    • Serve as advisor and liaison to Physician Compensation on compensation design and provide insights on how we want physicians to practice (RVUs, etc.)
    • Lead governance that includes physicians for physician practices ops, access, and contact center
    • Accountable for Primary Care
    • Partners with Division Chiefs to optimally design coverage models
    • Develop the Digital Health Strategy in partnership with COO, CPG
    Experience


    • 10+ years experience in a practice leadership role or business leadership role focused on physician practice operations, proven track record in relationship building, experience leading both academic and private practice groups is preferred
    • Experience leading a strong proven physician practice organization
    • Proven track record of strong multidisciplinary relationship management, communication and building physician and team engagement
    • Proven ability to formulate operational and business strategies, guide the development of operating plans, and drive performance to achieve or surpass goals.
    • Demonstrated success managing the financial performance of organizations of comparable size and complexity, preferably having had exposure to a regulated rate setting environment.
    • Strong financial skills and a proven ability to achieve sustainable and significant cost efficiencies on an organization-wide basis.
    • Proven ability to build solid, trusted relationships with physicians, colleagues, employees, donors, community leaders, external partners and regulators.
    • Demonstrated ability to identify and evaluate opportunities and take calculated risks to attain superior performance and outcomes.
    • Demonstrated ability to present complex information in a concise, yet comprehensive manner to leadership, medical staff and employees.
    • Prior experience collaborating and partnering with an academic institution is strongly preferred.
    • Prior leadership experience with a leading pediatric health system preferred.
    Education and Certification Summary


    • Graduate of an accredited, four-year medical school
    • Graduate of an accredited, post-graduate residency program
    • Board certified in a relevant specialty and current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Georgia
    • Current DEA registration
    • Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta medical staff
