    Description

    Jump is a 30-person strategy firm advising organizations such as Amazon, United Airlines, Purina, and Universal Music Group. We're looking for a People & Development Lead to support how teammates develop, grow, and do their best work at Jump.

    This role is a strong fit for someone with several years of experience in learning & development, performance, or people operations who is ready to take on broader responsibility. You'll work hands‑on across the people lifecycle, learning new areas over time while helping strengthen the systems that support growth in a small, high‑expectations firm.

    Responsibilities


    1. Growth & Development

    • Help define and maintain a clear syllabus for growth at Jump, including how expectations evolve over time
    • Support development that focuses on judgment, ownership, and scope—not just skill acquisition
    • Ensure growth conversations are grounded in real work and reinforced through feedback

    2. Performance, Feedback & Advancement

    • Support performance review and promotion cycles so feedback is clear, fair, and actionable
    • Help teammates understand where they stand and what growth looks like next
    • Improve how expectations, feedback, and advancement decisions are communicated and experienced
    • Support and increasingly run recruiting end‑to‑end, with a focus on low‑volume, high‑quality hiring for strategists
    • Help nurture a thoughtful pipeline of future candidates
    • Design and run onboarding so new teammates integrate quickly and understand expectations early

    4. Culture & Team Practices

    • Help steward the cultural rhythms that hold the firm together, from daily stand‑ups to retreats
    • Ensure these practices support clarity, connection, and high‑quality work

    5. Benefits & People Operations

    • Coordinate benefits administration and compliance with support from external partners and internal teammates
    • Help ensure people operations run smoothly and reliably

    This role may be a good fit if you…

    • Have ~5+ years of experience in people‑related work, often with depth in learning & development, performance, and culture
    • Have experience working in environments where excellence was expected and where holding a high bar required judgment, clarity, and care
    • Familiarity with leadership development frameworks and methods (e.g., Esalen, Hoffman, Stagen)
    • Are excited to expand into recruiting, onboarding, and broader people responsibility
    • Care deeply about helping individuals grow and do their best work
    • Are comfortable being hands‑on and learning as you go because you've worked at a small to midsize company and have recent in‑the‑trenches experience
    • Have permanent authorization to work in the United States

    Location: San Mateo, CA (in‑office Mon–Thu; daily scrums are weekly cultural anchors)

    Compensation: $150,000–$180,000 base salary + annual bonus based on business performance
