Job description

The Monett R-1 School District is accepting applications for a counselor position for the 2026/2027 school year. This counselor will serve the staff and students of Monett Middle School that houses 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.   The applicant for this position will be expected to perform the following duties and/or possess the following skills:

*guide and counsel individual students and/or small groups of students

*implement the secondary school guidance curriculum

*consult with teachers, staff and parents regarding meeting the developmental needs of students

*participate in or conduct activities which contribute to the effective operation of the school

*assist with assessments/MAP test coordinator

*assist with new student enrollment and student records

*lead the Teacher Assistance Team and referral process including 504s

*communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members

*have effective organizational and time management skills

*facilitate meetings with parents, teachers and students to write behavior plans/plans for success

* lead Crisis Intervention & Trauma Team

*lead the school in mindfulness activities

*follow the Behavior Intervention Support Team 

*facilitate professional learning opportunities for staff.
