    PRIMARY PURPOSE/ POSITION SUMMARY:


    The Director of Alumnae/i Relations is responsible for the organization and management of alumnae/i and future alumni activities designed to foster relationships on behalf of the university.

    The Director is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of alumni programming as well as managing alumni volunteers. This position reports to the Assistant Vice
    President of Advancement.

    JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Alumni Relationship Building & Cultivation

    Support the Assistant Vice President in crafting strategies to engage a diverse population of graduates and supporters of Dominican University.

    Work collaboratively with fundraising staff to identify, cultivate, and engage alumnae/i with potential for providing philanthropic support for Dominican University.

    Collaborate with campus partners to find opportunities for alumni engagement as a way of stewarding or re-engaging alumni to campus.

    Develop and oversee affinity group relationship building for alumni and constituent cultivation.
    Event Management


    Strategically manage a robust program of alumnae/i events, collaborating with development colleagues and campus partners to produce successful events that raise the profile of the institution and increase alumnae/i engagement.

    This includes heritage receptions, homecoming, regional events, networking events, and others that are established to promote engagement with alumnae/i.

    Lead event teams for signature alumnae/i events such as Reunion, Homecoming, regional events, etc., and be responsible for volunteer recruitment and engagement for classes celebrating milestone reunions, program development for events, and assignments for support staff.

    Create a cohesive volunteer engagement strategy that properly utilizes alumni and donor volunteers and moves along priorities of University Advancement division.

    Directly manage oversight of alumnae/i volunteers, including Class Agents, Social Media Volunteers, event host committees, and affinity groups.
    Future Alumni Support


    Develop strategic vision for engaging in existing student programs throughout the academic year to raise the profile of the Office of Alumnae/i Relations with current students.

    Partner in key university events to be a presence on campus and elevate the good work of alumni, donors, and key constituents within the Dominican student community.

    This may include events such as Orientation, Countdown to Commencement, etc.
    Administrative Duties

    Create an annual operating plan which includes a comprehensive timeline, goals, and a budget.

    Develop and implement strategic plan for the DU Network, an online engagement platform for students and alumni to connect, network, and share information.

    Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to the Assistant Director of Alumnae/i Relations. This includes managing priorities and fostering collaborations with campus partners both within and outside of university advancement.
    Perform other duties as requested, delegated or assigned.
    Relationships


    The Director of Alumnae/i Relations reports to the Assistant Vice President of Advancement and works closely with other members of the University Advancement staff, as well campus partners.

    The Director is expected to exhibit leadership with alumnae/i volunteers, faculty, staff, and students.
    MINIMUM/


    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    Three to five years of experience working with volunteers/programming, preferably in an education setting
    Experience in constituent relations programming or special event planning preferred
    Experience managing volunteers and developing creative alumni programs and activities


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    Clearly articulate the mission of Dominican University
    Demonstrate strategic thinking/collaborative work to optimize opportunities across the institution
    Possess strong writing, presentation and organizational skills
    Exhibit self-motivation, the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work within a team
    Be able to participate in evening and weekend alumnae/i activities
    Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
    Possess integrity and a positive attitude
    Be open to learning new software and online communication methods
    Experience working in Raiser's Edge preferred
