    Your Specific Responsibilities:


    Duties will include, but not limited to a broad range of health delivery services to adults and children as a clinician and services within the scope of the nursing practice.

    This employee will have direct patient care responsibilities including the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of pre-natal clients, and clients seeking family planning and/or STD services, and preventative care.

    This will include reviewing prior medical records, reports, test results, and examination information.


    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Rotates as required through all clinics, i.e., adult health, child health, family planning, communicable disease, etc. Due to a dynamic work environment, with changes in technology, the economy and demographics, staff patterns and responsibilities may change as circumstances dictate.
    • Provides consultations and assistance to registered nurses working in the CHD clinics.
    • Performs physical exams, medical diagnosis and prescribing medication and recommending dietary and activity programs as indicated by diagnosis.
    • Prescribes or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
    • Explains procedures and discuss test results with patients.
    • To perform presentation as requested on various topics, as requested by the Executive Nursing Director
    • Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary.
    • Clear documentation in the electronic health record, and occasional paper format is expected. Accurate CPT coding and diagnosis coding must be performed for each patient visit and documentation in the chart must support this coding.
    • Provides input and review of local health department protocols and will also assist in quality control.
    • Assists with the design and implementation of health promotion programs.
    • Assists in assessing the health needs of citizens and in planning and implementing the revision of programs to meet these needs.
    • Updates clinical knowledge skills as required by state re-licensure and dictated by clinic rotations.
    • Assists in developing demographic data pertaining to the health of the community in order to assess community needs; assisting in the assessment of and updating of existing programs.
    • Maintains quality of services delivered in all tasks associated with the nursing practice.

    SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provision of RN clinic support, as needed based on agency needs: Duties may include but may not be limited to:
    • Provides direct patient care at DOH -Manatee on-site clinics, as assigned to support Immunizations, Family planning, Preventative Care, TB, STD and PrEP Clinics.
    • Perform nursing assessments, medical histories, health promotion education and healthy
    * lifestyles counseling in a culturally sensitive manner.

    • Screens for domestic violence and provides intervention as indicated. Assesses tobacco use and provides cessation information.
    • Provides preconception, contraception, and pregnancy education and counseling.
    • Conducts HIV screening and counseling.
    • Performs screening and testing for tuberculosis.
    • Administers oral and injectable vaccines in accordance with ACIP and CDC recommendations and enters information into Florida SHOTS and HMS.
    • Issues medications under the nurse issuance protocol.
    • Counsels and refers for sterilization procedures.
    • Assists physicians in the exam room and accurately completes all paperwork associated with various physical exams.
    • Provides referrals for PrEP according to guidelines.
    • Documents in the EHR and codes all services into HMS.

    ADMINSTRATIVE/DOCUMENTATION/TRAINING DUTIES:

    • EARs/DARs will be completed within 7 days of the service provision, 95% of the time.
    • Must maintain quality of services delivered in all tasks associated with position.
    • All information held in health records is confidential with access governed by state and federal laws. Confidential information includes the client's name, address, medical, social and financial data and services received. Sexually transmitted disease should afford client's privacy, confidentiality and dignity.
    • Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service training, and other professional and staff development activities.
    • Independently and professionally addresses and resolves all customer service issues and takes appropriate actions.
    • Confidentiality- Ensure all information held in the health records is confidential with access governed by state and federal laws during projects assigned. Will keep confidential information including the client's name, address, medical, social, and financial data and services rendered.
    • Employees will respond to the FDOH health alert network notifications (formally FDENs) within the required timeframe. Employees will report as assigned for response duties during an disaster event, unless an exemption has been approved.

    Qualifications:

    • Current and Active licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Florida Dept of Health
