    Description

    Position Overview

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a dedicated individual to provide direct care and support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF). As a member of our team, you will work closely with individuals to enhance their community skills and rehabilitative skills training, both in a local activity center and within their homes.

    Responsibilities:

    • Monitor participant behaviors and ensure their safety and health as per service plans
    • Instruct and supervise individuals in skill development
    • Assist with personal hygiene and other daily skills
    • Support community integration and social behaviors
    • Help with the use of personal assistive devices and equipment
    • Coordinate skill training needs with other staff
    • Prepare progress notes and reports on individual progress
    • Ensure client participation in social and recreational activities
    • Implement community safety procedures
    • Perform various supportive tasks according to service plans
    • Collaborate with colleagues and inform families of individual progress and issues
    • Transport individuals and assist with lifting when needed
    • Administer medications and accompany individuals to appointments
    • Coach participants on budgeting and personal funding accounts
    • Assist during volunteer services and training sessions
    • Prepare individual profiles and quarterly reports

    Requirements:

    Considerable knowledge of day support programming and common disabilities, ability to establish rapport with individuals, effective communication skills, and the ability to handle crisis situations. High School Diploma, training in Behavioral Sciences, and experience in day support programs are required.

    Licenses and Certifications:

    Must have a valid driver's license in Virginia, First Aid/CPR certification, and training in Therapeutic Options (THEROPS) and Medication Management.
